About the Friends of Claude Moore Park

The Friends of Claude Moore Park is a 501.c.3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to assist the park staff in carrying out park programs assist park staff with various annual events and by raising funds to supplement the park budget when appropriate. Typical events include their sponsorship of an annual 5-kilometer trail run, assisting with the park’s Fourth of July celebration, sponsorship of a photography show in conjunction with the Fall Festival, and help for Holiday in the Park in December.  We regularly contribute scholarship funds for young students to attend summer day camps and to support Scout projects.  The group also supports other educational projects, building new trail facilities, the purchase of equipment for a natural playground for children, and to sustain natural and cultural resources in the park. A significant fund-raising effort between 2000 and 2010 led to the restoration of the schoolhouse.

Membership in the Friends is open to all interested persons. Being a volunteer in the group is a rewarding and satisfying activity as the public and park staff are highly appreciative of our efforts. We meet 7PM the first Wednesdays in February, March, May, June, September, and November.
